What is personal development and why it is important?

I am always trying learn new things that can help me reach my goals and improve my life. Most people refer to this as personal development, so I did a bit of research to find out what personal development actually is.

Personal development is a journey of education and improvement. It is the process of purposely improving your Skills, capabilities and potential expertly and socially. Personal development is important so you can reach your goals and become the person you want to be, this will lead to a sense of achievement and a more fulfilling life.

Personal development VS self-development

Personal development has the purpose of improving your external skills and capabilities where self-development has the purpose of improving your internal personal growth so you become more of who you truly are.

Personal development is creating or improving personal skills associated with progressing expertly and socially so you become better at doing what you do.

Self-development is the process of evaluating your personal experiences and improving your internal self so you can become more of who you truly are.

Most people talk about self-development and personal development as the same thing, this is because the it is easier to understand, they have similar meanings and some development activities benefit both self and personal development.

Why is personal development important

Personal development is vital for growth and progression. It allows you to improve your skills, capabilities and potential so you can become the best version of yourself.

Personal development is key for improving your ability to perform tasks at a higher standard than you could previously which could improve your carrier and allow you to reach your goals faster.

Personal development can also, improve your ability to define your personal vision and goals more clearly. This allows you to improve your plan of action which can make it easier for you to reach your goals and stay motivated.
